Construyen la montaña rusa Switchback en Texas

[ezcol_1half]Sarah y Danny Donhauser comparten algo más que una vida juntos al lado de sus hijos… comparten su pasión por los parques de diversiones, a tal grado que decidieron abrir en 2007 un parque familiar, el cual sólo tenía 5 atracciones.[/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end]Sarah and Donny Donhauser share more than just a life next to their children… they share their passion for amusement park to an extent that in April 2007 they decided to open a family park with only 5 attractions.[/ezcol_1half_end]

ZDT's Amusement Park

After, they grew to a 12-attraction park (including go-karts, a bungy, water slides, a climbing wall and an arcade). At this point they changed their name to ZDT’s Amusement Park from their previous name ZDT’s Amusement Center, to honor their children Zac, Danielle, and Tiffany.[/ezcol_1half_end]

Viper's Tail

[ezcol_1half]

[ezcol_1half_end]Motivated by this story where a family decided, against all odds, to start a whole new amusement park in their hometown, Seguin, TX, we decided to contact Sarah and Danny to ask them to show us their new project: the creation of the wooden roller coaster, Switchback.

With it, as they say, they expect to be noticed, to have a not only local park but a world-known park due to the fact that this roller coaster is unique as it not only emulates the original Switchback from 1884 (in a renovated and improved way) but also gives riders something to talk about.

The latter and this have the pecularity that the train goes one way on the track and comes back, originally switching tracks, hence its name.[/ezcol_1half_end]

Curva a 90 grados

[ezcol_1half_end]The main difference is that this will have a final spire reaching almost 90 degrees, making it the only one in the world. Besides, as the park is not very big, the roller coaster will run next to water slides and into the warehouses that already existed in the park and were modified to fit the track.

Let’s say the roller coaster will be the heart of ZDT’s as it will be the greatest pride of Sarah and Danny, who on opening day, will demonstrate that as a team, couple, and adrenaline lovers, have succeeded. They will have a success to enjoy after having given everything for a dream.

Upon arrival at the park we were greeted by Sarah, a sweet and friendly woman, who took us right away with Danny, who was on the construction site… as he has been since last year because he is not a simple witness. He has actively participated in the construction of this roller coaster along 20 workers because his knowledge and interest have given him the opportunity to do so.[/ezcol_1half_end]

You just need to talk to him for a couple of minutes to realize that he is a roller coaster enthusiast: he can recall names of parks and roller coasters, heights, and other interesting aspects of roller coasters particularly wooden ones. Let’s say he is a living encyclopedia.

The original plan was to open Switchback in the summer, and now they expect to open it in late August or September. There is no confirmed date because he says there have been some aspects that have delayed the construction, like rain.[/ezcol_1half_end]

[ezcol_1half_end]It is not a big park, but they have a huge interest in providing their visitors with an unforgetable experience with Switchback. They do not want to change their original concept of family park. This roller coaster will surely give them a place in the world rankings of roller coasters, but they are more interested in having a place in the hearts of the people that applaud the great effort of building this roller coaster in this small Texan city, Seguin.

It is because of this that they expect that with up to 1400 people in the park, the lines will not be long. It definitely sounds good for a park that started as a family dream and has, little by little, received recognition from all the visitors.

Switchback is not only a jump into the past, but a powerful thrust into a promising future for ZDT’s Amusement Park.[/ezcol_1half_end]
